Real Bride Stories: Aimee & Scott

After seeing photos from Aimee and Scott’s wedding on Instagram we got in touch with Aimee who was only too pleased to re-live her special day once again and tell us all about it… We got married 21st of May 2021 at the Knowes Hotel and Restaurant in Macduff Aberdeenshire. We met the typical way – on a night out and I initially didn’t like him, I thought he was arrogant! But he won me over with lots of laughs! The proposal was amazing! He had buried the ring at a lovely place near where we love called Pitfour Lake, in Aberdeenshire, our kids are keen metal detectors, I thought we were just on a family walk metal detecting, but the kids were in on it and knew where to find the “treasure” which was my ring – I don’t remember much else about it as I was so emotional, and it was so unexpected!

The wedding planning was quite stressful as we had booked our wedding just before covid arrived and lockdown began. We only viewed one venue and booked it there and then. It  is a lovely family run business with the most amazing food and views – what else could we need! I had a rustic Forrest theme in mind and loved how it all came together on the day. I never wanted a church wedding as I’m quite a simple no fuss person and didn’t like the idea of travelling between 2 places to get married and then having to travel onto the reception. I didn’t know what style of dress I wanted but I knew that it had to be Morilee as I always loved their styles and different shades of dress. The girls at the bridal shop I bought my Pia gown from were so good at helping me choose the right one, I only tried on 5 dresses and loved the Pia dress so, so much that it was that easy. The style of my dress was 2030 and the shop where I bought it is called  Blush Bridal Fraserburgh. Sadly, my mum passed away while we were planning my wedding. When I was wedding dress shopping for the first time, she couldn’t make it that day to accompany me, so I got pictures of the myself in the beautiful Pia gown and sent them to her. As soon as she saw them and told me how much she loved it too,  I went straight back and bought it! My bouquets of flowers were from a local flower shop in Peterhead called Daisy Chains – Darcie is amazing at what she does and is there with the bride and maids on the day of the wedding to help with anything – she was so good and helped me so much! She even had her Granny drop off a needle and thread as one of the bridesmaids dresses had a small issue 30 minutes before the ceremony!

The rest is the day despite COVID was the most amazing day ever, I loved every minute of it and will cherish the memories, photos and videography we have. The only advice I would give to future brides and grooms is go ahead with your wedding as planned as we had the best day and no one thought of COVID at all. We plan to have our wedding dance on our first anniversary at the hotel we were married. Christie and Nick our photographer & videographer worked so well together nothing was too much for them – they work with us the whole day and it felt like they were our friends.
