Vintage Wedding Dresses Many brides come into our stores looking for something Vintage. We have many dresses which fit the bill here and would recommend that brides look for gowns featuring heavy lace detailing, moonstone beads or warmer hues of ivory, nude and champagne instead of bright crisp white.
Bonita, style number 2303 is a fine example of a Chantilly detailed gown. It is a fit and flare silhouette with frosted, embroidered lace on net over Chantilly lace. Chantilly lace originated in France in the 17th century and is known for its fine outlined patterned detail. It has a high halter neckline which is trimmed with pearl and moonstone beading. There is a deep plunging neckline for a modern influence and the back is open with floral appliqued straps. This style is available in warm hues of ivory and honey or ivory, sand and honey.
Britney, style number 2310, pictured here in ivory and honey, is made of another vintage inspired lace. Alencon lace also originated in France, this time in the 16th Century, and was made to mimic Venetian lace to reduce the French court’s dependence on imports. Britney’s soft tulle mermaid style skirt is decorated with the Alencon lace appliques and there is a slight sparkle with a sprinkling of pearl and crystal beading. The look is completed with a two-tier train with scalloped hemline.
Last, but not least is Belle, style number 2311 – a modern take on the fairy-tale princess gown. Belle is a billowing organza and sparkle organza ball gown with heavily beaded embroidery to the bodice. It features a deep plunging sweetheart neckline and detachable off the shoulder sleeves. The skirt is understated and delicately embroidered with just enough detail so that sparkle organza is not lost. Shown here in ivory with prosecco and honey, the style is also available in ivory and honey and white and porcelain.
If you’re after a look inspired by 1980’s glam chic you won’t want to miss our new collection The Other White Dress. It is a capsule collected of understated gowns for small intimate weddings and garden party nuptials. We love style 12106 inspired by Lady Diana’s love for white tailored jackets, style 12110 which gives a nob to 80’s puff ball sleeves and 12105 a stunning satin number with off the shoulder cuffed neckline.
