Being in lockdown due to Covid-19 has definitely had its ups and downs. We wanted to reach out to newly engaged couples via our Instagram channel to see if there was any good news out there to share about couples who have got engaged in these crazy circumstances. Chloe White from Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire got in touch with us. We caught up with Chloe and James to hear all about their story…
“We’ve been together for coming up to five years now and we have a house and mortgage together. We were due to go to Brussels for James’ 28th birthday over Easter weekend, however sadly this got cancelled due to lockdown. James was planning to propose over the weekend, so he decided to still do it anyway.
My engagement ring was due to arrive at home the day after lockdown, but it didn’t arrive! I didn’t know but he had gone and asked for my parents blessing a couple of weeks prior and decided to still propose with a different ring instead.
I had just finished working from home and it was time for the bank holiday to begin, so I came outside and he said we are going to do a treasure hunt which I thought it was for Easter eggs. He had hidden clues around the house for over a week of pictures and places we’ve been around the world in the order of our love story. The clues were wonderful and had all the things he loved about me on. When I got to the last clue, I had to put all the clues in order and when I turned round he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the perfect proposal and such a surprise! I felt it was so much more personal this way than in a restaurant and something really nice to happen at such a strange time.
I now have my real engagement ring and we’re planning to get married June 2022 once we can visit venues to book a date – I can’t wait to marry James and start planning the wedding! We would like a wedding where we can have the ceremony and reception all in one venue ideally so we are looking at a barn, a hotel/orangery and a Manor House so we can see a bit of everything and decide from there! I can’t wait to get married!”
All the best guys, be sure to show us your wedding photos!
